![]() ![]() I tried to force unmount the disk drive through the terminal(diskutil diskUnmount force /.) but this was unsuccessful. When erasing my internal drive and re entering disk utilities I am trying to re- format to the desired format, and I came across this error(see attachment). I learned from other forums that I need to reformat the HD to Mac OS Extended (journal). I came across the problem that the AFPS format on Macintosh HD has a "bug" that does not allow you to reinstall MacOs HighSeirra from recover mode (command+R during boot). This showed several different errors that people may run into and what they can try to do about it.įactory Reset MacBook Air HighSeirra I am trying to factory reset my MacBook Air 2014. I thought I would list that since I did not find it on my own: Underneath was web address for the issue. However, that WiFi attempt also gave an error - the globe had a yield sign. ![]() I found an answer with Command+Option+Shift+R (internet recovery mode) which did work to the point that the globe appeared. No matter what I did, no Command +R function (with power, after power, before chime, after chime) worked. In any case, I could not get it to execute a reboot after the usual set-up (language, etc.) - I think because the OS was several versions ago. I bought a MacBook Air in Dec 2019 and didn't actually open the box until 18 months later (yeah, insane). The conversation was older so I needed to "ask a question" as I could not reply. Factory Reset Gone Wrong - /mac/startup Someone previously asked about having a folder pop-up or other unexpected failure - having tried Command + R without succesfully installing.
